The Industrial engineering & Solutions GmbH & CO kg (IES) is a range of the 1933 in Nauen/Berlin created company group sommer, which is resident since 1946 in Schenefeld near Itzehoe and has altogether approx. 40 coworkers busily. The first sorting equipment for mineral bulk materials was based on the optical detection of only 256 different gray tones. With increasing complexity of the sorting tasks near-carried to the enterprise the need according to a more differentiated color detection and a stronger consideration of preparationtechnical aspects developed. Therefore in the year 1996 all opto-electronic activities of the company group sommerin were summarized in the new created OptoSort summer GmbH. By co-operation with the Fraunhofer Institut for information and data processing, begun at the same time, the is today a available a technology platform with a modern genuine color detection and sort system. The areas of application of the optical sort technology were extended continuously to numerous further industrial raw materials, ores as well as jewels.
